Approved Pesticides

The Medicines and Poisons (Pest Management Activities) Regulation 2021 in the State of Queensland requires a licensed technician to provide the customer with pre-treatment pest control advice before starting a pest control activity.
  • The pesticide used for the activity must be APVMA approved for use. The licensed technician will only use pest management agents and products registered within the relevant State or Territory or under a permit issued by APVMA or State Authority.
  • This pest management program can be ineffective if recommended hygiene procedures are not implemented, building or landscaping alterations are made, or conducive or infested materials are introduced.
  • While SafeHouse Pest Control and its technicians take care when applying the APVMA-approved pesticides, they shall not be held liable for any damage to timbers, fabrics, wall coverings, floor coverings or other articles. In case of such damages, the customer must indemnify them against any costs that may arise, and no rectification works will be provided.
  • In concrete drilling, cutting, or both are required to apply an APVMA-approved pesticide. SafeHouse Pest Control and the licensed technician do not accept any liability for damage caused by concealed services such as power, gas, water, etc. The customer should provide clear and accurate plans before commencing site work. In case of such damages, the customer must indemnify them against any costs that may arise, and no rectification works will be provided.

Before, during, and after treatment: precautions

There are several precautions that persons should take before, during, and after treatment to minimise exposure to any pesticide used for carrying out the pest management activity:
  • Before the work commences, the customer must advise the technician of any persons or pets on-site, allergies, or other health concerns.
  • Individuals with a high sensitivity or a tendency to experience allergic reactions are advised to avoid entering the premises for twenty-four (24) hours. It is recommended that they wait until the premises have been adequately ventilated before returning. Food items and utensils for humans, pets, and animals must be covered before treatment.
  • During the treatment period, all people, animals, birds, or fish must be removed or protected, and all pets and animals must be kept away from treated areas until dry, and any odour has cleared.
  • Customers should avoid contact with treated surfaces until the insecticide has dried.
  • Doors and windows should be kept closed during the treatment and until the odour has cleared on external treatments, which can sometimes take three to twenty-four hours.
  • When gaining access to or working in the roof void or subfloor areas, the customer should wear overalls, gloves, and a respirator and avoid contact with insecticidal products. It is recommended to wash the overalls and gloves promptly after use, and it is advisable to keep them separate from other laundry. Alternatively, they should be disposed of as soon as possible.
  • Customers must observe any verbal advice provided by SafeHouse Pest Control or the licensed technician at the time of treatment.
  • Lastly, no treatment can be carried out around water tanks not fully sealed or in water collection areas, and the customer must advise SafeHouse Pest Control of water tank installations.

Free Service Period (Warranty)

  • If we encounter any structural or environmental impediments that prevent us from carrying out treatments within the quoted program, we reserve the right to re-evaluate and adjust the terms of the FREE Service Period or the investment cost.
  • Unless specific written arrangements are made, SafeHouse Pest Control will require payment of the total contract price at the start of the work.
  • Any FREE Service Period offered will be null and void until all outstanding payments owed to SafeHouse Pest Control have been paid in full.
  • Under the condition that you immediately report any signs of pest infestation and subject to the product label's restrictions on the number of treatments per year, we agree to provide any necessary remedial treatment to the designated property during the FREE Service Period at no additional charge. However, any FREE Service Period only applies to the specified pest species the licensed technician identifies.
  • We assume no responsibility for any damage or consequential losses resulting from current, past, or future pest activity, nor do we provide any warranty, express or implied.
  • The proposed treatment program is restricted to the pest species specified by the licensed technician, and it does not cover untreated pests as part of a Pest Management Program.

Limitations

  • The efficacy of our general pest control and termite control treatments is limited to the claims made by the manufacturer of each APVMA-approved pesticide, considering the environmental conditions, hygiene, and sanitation requirements specified on the latest APVMA-approved product label.
  • We strictly adhere to the number of residual applications per year specified on the product label and do not exceed them.
  • To comply with regulations, we strictly use insecticides only as directed by the APVMA-approved product label and do not use them "off-label" to treat pests not listed on the label. Our treatments are only applied at registered application rates on the product label for the target pests.
  • The duration of external general pest control treatments can vary up to three months based on the claims of the APVMA-approved pesticide we use.
  • The duration of internal general pest control treatments can vary up to twelve months based on the claims of the APVMA-approved pesticide we use.
  • At the beginning of the service, your technician will inform you of the level of control achieved with your pest management program.

Liability Limitation

To the maximum extent permissible by law:
  • This agreement does not impose any liability on us (whether under contract law, common law, or otherwise) to you for any consequential, indirect, or special loss or damage of any kind, including (but not limited to) loss of production, business interruption, loss of revenue, loss of profits, or loss of opportunity resulting from delay, product failure or any other cause.
  • If a claim relates to a guarantee or warranty under the Australian Consumer Law, our liability to you under this agreement, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, is limited to the replacement or repair of the Equipment or the cost of replacing or repairing the Equipment, and in the case of Services, it is limited to the price of resupplying those Services, whichever is considered appropriate in the circumstances, as determined in our absolute discretion.
  • In all other circumstances, our liability to you (whether in contract, negligence, tort, or any common law or statutory right) under this agreement is limited to the total fees we have received from you according to this agreement. We are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage, caused negligently or otherwise, to you, your property or any third party resulting from the provision of services, Equipment or any additions.
